Healthcare professionals continually strive to perfect the delivery of patient care. Over the past decade; technological advances have contributed to improvements in clinical productivity and reductions in medical errors however despite the considerable developments in healthcare technology, a perceptible need has remained: a mobile device that is optimally compatible with physician work habits. Doctors’ schedules are so dense and their need for accuracy so high that they have very exacting expectations for the ideal mobile device. Although there are several mobility solutions available, very few provide a best-in-class set of features that are well-suited to physician work needs. Physicians demand real time access to clinical information as they traverse between home, the office, the operating room, and different hospitals. The ideal mobile device should be small enough to carry around everywhere and powerful enough to access and run information systems and applications.
This paper introduces a new kind of device, the OQO model 01+, which offers the most robust set of mobile computing capabilities for healthcare professionals to date. The model 01+ has the portability of a PDA but the functionality of a PC notebook.
