American Medical Sales has applied its 50 years of experience helping radiologists see images better, to create the Catella™ family of digital network solutions. Catella helps you by:
- Assisting you in your transition from film-based reading to digital diagnosis.
- Increase your productivity.
- Reducing the repetitive tasks that now plague your practice.
- Creating a system that is simple to learn.
- Obeying verbal commands so that you don`t have to become a computer expert.
- Automatically sending reports to your referring physicians as quickly as possible.
The Catella Network
Catella receives images from multiple sources transmitted over a variety of media. Depending on your needs, system design can start from the creation of the image and can include transmission, storage, printing and viewing.
Controls such as zoom, pan, window, level, invert and rotate are energized by a high-speed processor/software protocol. The images literally flash up on the monitors. Catella sets a new standard in digital diagnostic imaging by adding the ability to issue all of these commands by voice .
Teleradiologists tell us that Catella has greatly increased their productivity. Other professionals, presently using digital networks or just now planning to move to digital, say that Catella is the first digital viewer that clearly understands their workflow.
Ultimately, the images presented on your workstation are the most important elements of your digital network. They are the basis for your diagnosis and the ``product`` of your digital imaging system. You need the best workstation to do your best work, you need Catella .
All Catella workstations exceed the ACR Standards for Digital Image Data Management and for Teleradiology, and work within the DICOM standard.

Digitizers
Flexibility and productivity are the keys to the Catella Scan station. Our system is more than a Medical Grade Digitizer. Catella Scan software performs DICOM conversion and allows for selectable instant-send destinations. The Catella Scan station incorporates our exclusive one-step BatchScan™ that allows you to automate the DICOM header creation, scan uncounted groups of patient films, and send the resulting files anywhere on your network. Digitized images can also be sent over the internet and/or directly to our Catella CD Burning Station. All images are securely transmitted using Catella Image Armor™ (3DES encryption software).
What makes Catella Scan truly unique is its ability to toggle between ``Automatic`` and ``Manual`` modes. Automatic mode uses our unique Walk-Away™ technology, offering users one-click scan and send capability. Manual mode offers a variety of advanced image review and manipulation features that include: Window settings, Level settings, Gamma correction, Rotate, and Flip image. More notably, Manual mode offers a ``Cut`` feature, which allows a user to split multi-image films (such as CT, MRI and US images) into separate image slices, making them viewable in `stack` or `cine` mode.
Additionally, our newly incorporated DupliCat™ feature performs automatic scanning and printing for all your film duplicating needs. To include histories, reports or other printed documents, you can expand your scanning options with Catella Docu-Scan™. See our Docu-Scan literature for more details.
AMS features Vidar and other quality scanner brands as part of this hardware/software solution. When used with our Catella Archive, our Scan Station provides a way to transfer hard-copy historical images to a digital format for DICOM storage and comparison viewing.
Document Scanner
The digital radiology office increasingly demands methods for providing complete information ``packages`` to the interpreting physician from a variety of sources. Catella Docu-Scan™ is a cost effective method to help you meet this need.
Now important patient documents, including patient histories, reports, and lab studies, can be integrated with the patient`s DICOM image file.
The Catella Docu-Scan station incorporates our exclusive one-step BatchScan™ that allows you to automate the DICOM header creation, scan uncounted groups of documents, and send the resulting files anywhere on your network. Digitized documents can also be sent over the Internet and/or directly to our Catella CD Burning Station. All images are securely transmitted using Catella Image Armor™ (3DES encryption software).
Docu-Scan has an impressive scan rate of two seconds per sheet. The software provides both automatic and manual modes. Our unique WalkAway™ technology, used so successfully in our film digitizing systems,* offers users one-click scan and send capability. To help with difficult document types (colored paper, faxed pages, etc.) the manual mode offers a variety of advanced image review and manipulation features that include: Window settings, Level settings, Rotate and Flip image.
AMS features a HP scanner as part of Catella Docu-Scan`s hardware/software solution. When used with our Catella Archive, our Docu-Scan station provides a way to transfer hard-copy records to a digital format for DICOM storage and viewing with critical medical images.

The final link between the radiologist and the diagnosis is the image presented on the motorized viewer or film illuminator. Now, under more ``guidelines`` and ``requirements``, your entire viewing environment is of the utmost concern.
Medical professionals, as well as regulators, acknowledge that to obtain the most diagnostic information from films and equipments requires special attentions four elements:
Illuminance: Ambient or room lighting.
- Luminance: Light coming out of the illuminator.
- Homogeneous: The evenness of the illuminators` light across the entire viewing area.
- Extraneous light: Light coming out of the illuminator which surrounds smaller films.
It is in these four specific areas that AMS mammography illuminators stand out. Here are our four excellent options.

When the film bin is open in safe-light, a soft beep s emitted to remind the technician to close the film bin after use. For the price box of film, you can`t afford another day without this indispensable safeguard against accidental film exposure. Order any of our AMS film already equipped with the Safe-T-Lock feature or adapt your existing film bin with our easy-to-install Safe-T-Lock unit.
Film Safes
Never worry again about accidental exposure of stored film. The Film Safe can only be opened under safe light conditions. Accidental exposure is virtually impossible. Here`s how it works. To open Film Safe, press the lock release. The solid state components in the unit will measure the amount of light in your darkroom and if safe, the lid is released for removal or insertion of film. The lid is designed to ``fall`` closed when released.
Three models available. The small unit holds up to 10¡È x 12¡È film sizes. The two larger units hold 8 sizes up to 14¡È x 17¡È
