PACS provider American Medical Sales, Inc. announced two important upgrades designed for veterinary practices.

First, AMS now allows all six veterinary specific DICOM tags to be displayed on its main workstation screen.In addition to the species and breed, AMS  has added reproductive status, registration, responsible person and responsible organization.

"These additions place us fully in synch with the requests of our most demanding veterinary clients," notes Gerry Lomonaco, Director of Engineering.  "It also places AMS in a very small group of PACS providers that offer all the tags."

Clients can easily select which, if any, of these tags they want displayed via a user-controlled options menu.

Second, AMS has added an interactive notes feature to its PACS workstations.This is a general upgrade of benefits to all AMS PACS users, including veterinarians.

"Doctors can now make written comments that will ride with the image set.  Other doctors can add their own comments and the whole information stream is saved for review," explained Greg Perry, Vice President of Sales and Marketing.  "This does not take the place of a full dictation or medical records system by any means, but it allows easy and effective communication from interpreting doctor to referring doctor, for example."

These are just two of the group of new features that AMS will be rolling out from now until RSNA 2008.
