e500 VENTILATOR –PATIENT FOCUSED VENTILATOR
When critical care meets innovation, you get truly intuitive care - you get the Newport e500 Ventilator. With optimal patient/ventilator synchrony, an easy-to-use control panel, and a touch screen graphics display monitor; the e500 ventilator is the patient-focused ventilator ideal for today`s acute care environment.
Designed for simplicity of use, the e500 offers direct access to all ventilation controls along with other frequently used functions such as Inspiratory and Expiratory Hold, 100% Oxygen and Preset Vent Settings. The logical layout of the front panel and smart alarm systems make ventilator setup and training quick and easy. An integrated self-calibrating oxygen monitor with alarms, panel lock button, and internal battery back-up all provide a higher level of security in ventilator management necessary to assure peace of mind.
The e500 ventilator`s Graphics Display Monitor (GDM) features a clear view of diagnostic information with touch-screen ease. Users gather critical feedback from easy-to-read waveforms, loops and measured and calculated numeric data. In addition to 24 hour trend data, the GDM provides an Event History Log that records the 600 most recent occurrences of both alarm violations and changes to ventilator settings. The Wave/Loop Freeze with Cursor function allows the user to gather the analysis of time, pressure, volume or flow at any point in the breath.
SPECIFICATIONS OF THE e500 VENTILATOR
From sophisticated breath management and enhanced safety features to expanded monitoring, the e500 helps users focus on quality patient care.
Designed for simplicity of use, the e500 offers direct access to all ventilation controls along with other frequently used functions such as Inspiratory & Expiratory Hold, 3 minute O2, Suction Disconnect and Preset Vent Settings.
Special Features OF THE e500 VENTILATOR
Intelligent Control™ System
FlexCycle™ Flexible Pressure Support Cycling Threshold, Automatic Slope/Rise Adjustment, Automatic Leak Compensation, Dual Control Breath Management (VTPC/VTPS).
Suction Disconnect
Press and hold Alarm Silence for one second to enable. Suspends ventilation while delivering continuous flow after a planned disconnect.
User Set Up Functions
Leak Test, Circuit Compliance Compensation (calculate and enable breathing circuit compliance of flow/volume delivery), enable 90-second Slow Inflation, Altitude Compensation, Language Selection, Violation Message Log.
Bias Flow
Ventilator-set bias flow flushes exhaled CO2 and stabilizes temperature, humidity and baseline pressure in the patient breathing circuit.
Non-invasive Ventilation
Compatible with mask ventilation for continuous or short term use.
O2 Calibration
Automatic oxygen sensor calibration at software determined intervals.
Preset Vent Settings
Mode, Breath type and settings can be preset without affecting current ventilator operation.
Intelligent Control™ System
Newport e500`s new Intelligent Control™ System offers automated feedback functions to improve patient/ventilator synchrony.
FlexCycle™ Pressure Support Cycling Threshold - This patented feature actively manages the Psupport/VTPsupport flow-cycling off threshold, breath by breath. Using a unique feedback controlled algorithm, FlexCycle™ eliminates the need for a user-adjusted threshold. This provides better patient/ventilator synchrony in the transition from inspiration to expiration.
Automatic Leak Compensation - The e500 automatically compensates for gas leaks and keeps the PEEP/CPAP (Pbase) pressure level stable, so Trigger can be set very sensitively without auto-triggering.
Automatic Slope/Rise Adjustment - Every change in the patient inspiratory effort or lung dynamics requires an adjustment to ventilator flow delivery in order to keep slope-rise optimized. The e500 automatically delivers the precise flow to quickly elevate airway pressure to the target pressure.
Dual Control Breath Management - The Volume Target Pressure Control (VTPC) and Volume Target Pressure Support (VTPS) breaths provide dual control of ventilation in conjunction with Automatic Slope/Rise adjustment and FlexCycle. The ventilator automatically adjusts the target pressure to the lowest level possible to deliver the set tidal volume within the set Plimit.
Patient Focused Care
From sophisticated breath management and enhanced safety features to expanded monitoring, the e500 helps users focus on quality patient care.

Diagnostics at Your Fingertips
Designed exclusively for the e500 ventilator, the Graphics Display Monitor (e500GDM) features a clear view of diagnostic information with touch-screen ease. Users gather critical feedback from easy-to-read waveforms, loops, and measured and calculated numeric data. The monitor provides an Event History Log and can trend eight parameters over 24 hours. The e500 GDM also allows the user to plot a quasi-static pressure volume curve, using the One Touch 90-second Slow Inflation feature on the e500 ventilator control panel. The Wave/ Loop Freeze with Cursor function allows the user to run a movable cursor over any curve to gather valuable diagnostic data. This simple technique provides precise analysis of time, pressure, volume or flow at any point in the breath.
With forward-thinking technology, the e500 offers the future of ventilation today. To find out how your facility can benefit from the patient-focused e500 Ventilator System, contact Newport Medical Instruments today.
