VACUUM EXTRACTORS
Malmstrom - the original and acknowledged as the `father` of the modern vacuum extractor. A stainless steel cup with integral traction chain and handle. The design provided the user with the opportunity to generate considerable traction force.
Soft Cups
The Menox Silc Cup was introduced in 1984. Manufactured in medical grade silicone it has become the most popular vacuum extractor in the UK. With its ease of application it provides efficient and effective scalp adhesion with minimum risk to either the mother or the infant. The cup is autoclavable and available in cup diameters 60mm and 50mm.
In 2001 Menox introduced their single-use Silc Cup and single-use vacuum tubes in sterile packs. The single-use Silc Cup offers the same benefits as the autoclavable version with good adhesion and ease of application.
Bird Cups
Bird modified the Malmstrom cup by separating the suction and the traction systems with the vacuum port in an eccentric position whilst the traction chain remained in the centre. A separate traction handle is required for this cup.
This first cup by Bird is now called the Anterior Cup. To better facilitate manoeuvrability of the cup when the occiput was posterior Bird later moved the vacuum port to the lateral wall. This is now called the Posterior Cup. This is the recommended extractor for use in posterior and lateral positions of the occiput.
VACUUM PUMPS
Our range of electrically driven vacuum pumps previously designed and manufactured by Egnell Ameda is now produced in Switzerland by Ardo Medical.
Both the Senator 30 and Master 45 versions combine powerful vacuum with virtually silent operation making them the instrument of choice in NHS and Private Hospitals.
Senator 30 Vacuum Pumps
-
Effective and efficient vacuum generated at 30 litres per minute to provide the optimum levels required for successful ventouse deliveries.
-
Complete with its vacuum reservoir, the Senator 30 provides an audible warning if the cup is tending to dislodge. By releasing the traction momentarily, the cup will reset so preventing the necessity for a second application.
-
This spatially efficient unit is available in either trolley or table-top version.
Master 45 Vacuum Pumps
With a 45 litre per minute displacement, this vacuum pump can be safely and effectively used for a range of surgical procedures including vacuum extraction or terminations.
