MEDICAL COMPRESSED AIR PLANT, AIR COMPRESSORS, AIR RECEIVER, FILTER DRYER MODULE, FILTERS, PLANT CONTROL SYSTEM
Medical Compressed Air Plant
CMS Medical Compressed Air Plant, offer a solution to the supply of medical air. Available with several pressure options, and compressor options. The plant is often configured to suit each project or plant room, or is available in a standard layout. Multiple compressor systems are available as standard.
CMS Medical Compressed Air Plant General Description
-
The CMS range of medical air plants provide a proven and reliable source of supply that will deliver the design flow rate of medical air under all operating conditions.
-
The plant consists of two or more identical air compressors, compressed air receiver vessel(s) and an air filtration / dryer assembly including line pressure regulators.
-
The plant is provided with a fully automatic control system, with manual override facility to minimise energy consumption and compressor wear.
Air Compressors
-
Air compressors are generally the oil lubricated single stage reciprocating type, which together with the after-cooler, auto drain, and safety valve are skid mounted to give maximum flexibility of layout.
-
Fully enclosed, and acoustically lined, rotary screw compressors are available on larger models.
-
Each compressor is driven by a 415v, three phase 50Hz electric motor with voltages and frequencies available to suit global conditions.
Air Receiver
-
One or more air receivers will be supplied manufactured and tested to BS5169 1975 Class E Grade 3 or EN 286. Other standards such as ASME, and third party designs / inspection are available.
-
The receiver(s) is supplied with inspection access panels and automatic drain with manual by-pass.
-
Each receiver is also supplied with a pressure gauge, safety relief valve and fusible plug, and is complete with lifting lugs and mounting feet.
Filter Dryer Module
-
The dryer module consists of duplex, twin absorber towers, containing activated alumina desiccant, of the fully regenerative type.
-
When the plant is in operation one column is on stream removing water vapour from the delivered air whilst the other column is being dried and regenerated by passing a small air purge through it. No electrical heating is required to achieve the specified standards of dryness. Whilst this dryer is in operation, the standby dryer is ready to take over the duty on automatic selection should the duty dryer fail.
-
The operation and regeneration cycle is fully automatic, controlled by the plant control system and requires no user input. Should a fault occur, either high dew point or low pressure then an alarm signal will be initiated and the standby dryer will operate.
-
The use of a central plant control system ensures that the dryer air purge does not continue to operate under conditions of no load, which ensures efficient operation.
-
The purge cycle can be controlled from the control panel, which enables the dryer module to achieve maximum efficiency irrespective of the ambient temperature and humidity.
-
Pressure gauges, pressure switches, non return valves, and isolation valves are provided as standard on each dryer column.
Filters
All CMS Medical Air Plants are equipped with a duplex set of carefully selected filters, to ensure maximum air quality, and extended service life of the desiccant.
-
Compressor air intake filter – to remove particles from entering the compression chambers which will cause wear to the sealing, and moving parts in the compressor. This ensures maximum efficiency of air flow capacity, and minimum oil mist carry over.
-
1st Pre-filter - to remove airborne dirt particles, dust and water / oil droplets, from the compressed air.
-
2nd Pre-filter - to remove by coalescing oil and water mist, created within the compressors and prevent contamination of the desiccant within the dryers. This prevents any contamination from entering the dryers. Ensuring maximum efficiency of the dryers, and extending the service life of the desiccant.
-
Activated Carbon filter - to remove by adsorption, hydrocarbon vapours, and odours.
-
Bacterial Filter - to ensure that the delivered air is free of bacterial contamination.
-
All filters are provided with differential pressure gauges to indicate when a new element is require and due to the full duplex assembly, elements can be changed without the need for a system shut down.
Plant Control System
-
The system controls the fully automatic stop/start, compressor duty rotation, dryer duty rotation and plant monitoring whilst incorporating manual by-pass / selection facilities.
-
Easy to understand panel display and functions with a logical layout.
