High Quality Surgical and Hypodermic Needles

Society with its present-day health consciousness lays heavy demands on medicine. We are constantly aware of this responsibility, because we know how important and strong the confidence is in our capability. We offer products of top quality.

The name of ACUFIRM stands for high quality surgical and hypodermic needles. The constant, high quality level of our products is based on more than 100 years of experience, on knowledge of the latest scientific developments and their technical applications. We attach great importance in selection of the materials used and precision in the specification standards. Modern and environmental friendly production procedures as well as a rigid control system ensure that only perfect products leave our premises.

In January 1997, we received the certificate according to the norms DIN EN ISO 9001 (09/94) and EN 46001 (08/96). This certificate is only another sign for the high quality of ACUFIRM products, which correspond to the European standards of quality. Furthermore, it guarantees that our quality management system is maintained and improved constantly. For medicine. For mankind. ACUFIRM stands for quality. And quality is our concept.

Surgical Needles

Micro-Needles

ACUFIRM micro-needle and thread combinations are securely attached with suture materials that meet the highest standards of quality. Micro-needles thread combinations with nylon carry green framed labels.

  • Nylon (Polyamide) black
  • Nylon is a black non-resorbable monofilament thread made from polyamide 6.6
  • Nylon is particularly suited for micro-surgery because of its consistent tensile strength, smooth and even surface, and it's good knotting properties

Silk in Blue/Black

Silk is weaved out of the silk spider's cocoon and is as a result a natural non-resorbent material. It guarantees, thanks to a special weaving technique a strong non-tearable and an evenly distributed structure. The silk is impregnated and dyed black in the thread sizes 4/0 to 6/0 (PH. EUR.) and dyed blue in the thread sizes 9/0 and 10/0 (PH. EUR.).Micro-needle thread combinations with silk carry light blue framed labels.

Polypropylene in Blue/Black

Polypropylene is a non-resorbent monofile thread with a smooth pore free surface. Thus when it comes to sewing polypropylene slips neatly and evenly through muscle tissue. Furthermore as a result of its non-hydrolytic nature, polypropylene is particularly suitable for absorbent and permanent stitches. Unlike nylon, polypropylene is not decomposable, this in turn guarantees lasting firmness. Polypropylene remains inert in skin tissue and is dyed blue in the thread sizes 4/0 to 8/0 (PH. EUR.). The thread sizes 9/0 and 10/0 (PH. EUR.) are dyed black allowing a better visibility in the tissue. Micro-needle thread combinations with polypropylene carry dark blue framed labels.

PVDF (Polyvinyldinefluoride) in Black

PVDF is a black non-resorbent monofile thread made out of polyvinyldinefluoride. The tissue areas where PVDF is used are similar to those of polypropylene. PVDF, however, provides a better and tighter knotting process with fewer knots. As with polypropylene, PVDF may also be used for implanting. Micro-needles thread combinations with PVDF carry dark grey framed labels.

In addition to our vast standard program, we also take special care to attend to the individual wishes and demands of our customers. To fulfil our customers’ special requests we require an accurate design or the necessary information pertaining to the product. We also produce micro-needles and thread combinations with special geometrical details and remain totally flexible where combination of material and needle are concerned. Trust in our know-how.

ACUFIRM Sternotomy Suture is a new suture development for sternum closures after surgical operations in the thorax area. With this new development, ACUFIRM is continuing the long tradition in medical technology and is providing a trend setting product for the highest requirements of modern medicine.

As a result of the development of this new form of atraumatic sternotomy suture material, we have succeeded in also introducing our comprehensive expertise and our high quality standards into the area of sternum sutures.

ACUFIRM Sternotomy Needles

  • are manufactured exclusively from selected high grade stainless steel
  • distinguish themselves through high firmness and resistance to breakage
  • guarantee low penetration force and minimum puncture channels by means of precisely finished tips
  • are available in two needle forms: (a).  round bodied needle, with internally trocar tip

Tube Programme

Ernst Kratz is an expert as far as the production of special tubes and products are concerned. Thus we can offer high-grade stainless steel tubes between 0.35 and 4.00 mm in diameter with varying wall thickness, with deburred tube sections (min. length 5 mm, length tolerance ± 0,5 mm) if requested. The tubes are available in seamless or welded version. We have recently expanded our programme to include tubes made out of titanium, alloys of titanium (Grade 2,7,9) and platinum. Furthermore, we also deliver tube material by the meter, ex warehouse in commonly used dimensions.

ACUFIRM surgical needles are delivered unsterilised and sealed in PET-foil; guaranteeing the safety of the surgical needles from exterior factors and influences. In order to open the packaging we recommend the use of a pair of scissors, placing the packet label facing downwards in the hand, thus avoiding any damage to the needle when opening

  • Each solid PET-G box contains 12 dozen packets
  • ACUFIRM cannulas are delivered unsterilised, in environmental friendly cardboard boxes
  • Our products can be used up to 5 years from date of purchase, when correctly stored in the sealed original packaging

Storage

Our products should be stored in a dry and dark location, between 10°C - 40°C, in the original packaging. During storage attention should be given that no mechanical force is exerted on any of the packaging, as this could lead to accidents and damaging of the products in question.

  • Products resulting from wet or damaged packaging should not be used
  • Our products should be well cleaned before sterilisation. Only cleaning materials recommended for medical instruments and carrying a pH-value between 6-8 should be used

Sterilisation

Our products should be sterilised in stainless steel needle containers in a recommended vapour sterilisator and under suitable conditions. Under no circumstances should our products be sterilised together with plastic, rubber or silicone items, as rest particles from these items could settle on our products.

After application of our products, these should be well-cleaned before re-usage, the needle surface and needle tip carefully examined and sterilised according to given instructions. Should the tip or surface of our product through usage be damaged in any way, these products should not be used any further. ACUFIRM surgical needles are only to be used for surgery. Keep the product out of reach of children.

As a result of strict and detailed controls only damage-free products leave our warehouse. Should there be an exception to the rule, however, we would be grateful if you could send us the product in question in its original packaging, stating reason for complaint, as well as date and source of purchase.
